Free Auto-Responders

• Autobots.net
  This autoresponder service lets you send one or more messages at preset time intervals. You can stack up to 10 messages and release these to prospects on the schedule you specify. The service does not carry any ads (something the site seems to pride itself on!)

• Biz-E-Bot
  This service lets you send up to 10 followup messages to an emailed request for information. This service is ad supported; the ads can be removed for an annual fee.

• FollowingUp
  This service allows you to specify up to 7 followup marketing or information emails that will be sent at intervals on demand. The service is ad supported but you can pay to remove the ads.

• FreeAutoBot
  This free autoresponder service lets you send out one or many automatic followup messages at intervals you specify. Best of all, there are no ads added to your outgoing messages. Instead, the site makes its money off banner ads on the main site, and through sending registered users occasional messages.

• Get Response
  Free autoresponder service that offers unlimited autoresponders, no maximum mail length, automatic multiple messages sent over a period of time and much more. It's all free, but you'll have to put up with a small advertising message at the top of every message you send out. This can be removed for a fee.

• Responders.net
  Free autoresponder and form for collecting information on your site. You can set up an information request form very easily, then specify what message you would like to send automatically to people who fill in the form.

• SendFree
  Autoresponder service with an interesting twist: SendFree also acts like an advertising exchange service. How it works: you sign up for a SendFree account and set up your autoresponder service. At the top of every automatic reply your autoresponder sends out is a short text advertisement. Half of these are for other members' sites. The other half are reserved for SendFree's advertisers. In turn, your advertisement will appear at the top of messages sent out by other members.

Free On Line Storage

• Attachmail
  Attachmail is a service that lets you send remote attachments. Instead of sending the actual file, you just send a link to the file or files that you want to attach. You can also download a utility program that will compress and encrypt your files prior to upload, to make the 5MB storage space you are given stretch further. Note that by default files are kept for 7 days only, then deleted - although you can choose to set any period up to 1 year.

• Driveway
  You can pick up 25MB of free online storage space here, and then earn your way towards 100MB of storage (by referring friends and taking surveys). You can password-protect folders for added safety.

• FatDrive
  FatDrive offers 55MB of free storage for your files, as well as a complete web-based free email service and a chance to win a selection of prizes through your use of this service.

• FreeBack
  You get 10MB of storage to back up or transfer files between computers, although the site claims you can store up to 50MB of data in that space due to the compression system they have put in place. The software provided to upload data is written in Java, so you will need a browser able to run it. You can also elect to have your data converted into a .zip file on the fly. The data is encrypted before it is transmitted to FreeBack's servers for added security.

• Free Disk Space
  This site offers 25MB of online storage, plus an unlimited referral campaign which lets you pick up more storage as you persuade your friends to join, and they in turn persuade their friends to join, and so on. If this sounds like MLM, that's pretty much what it is (their "example" carefully skirts around the fact that your "downline" would have to include 1,000 people for you to pick up 1.3GB of free space!) So use the site on its own merits, but don't expect it to replace your hard disk any time soon... They offer support for many platforms, including MAC and PDAs.

• i-drive
  50MB of secure free online storage for your files, plus infinite storage for information you download off of the web straight into your i-drive. Nice features, including automatic download of many files from MP3.com and the ability to upload whole folders in a single operation. If your site offers downloads, you can set up links so that your visitors can receive them directly in their i-drive.

• iMacFloppy
  You get 3MB of free storage space to store files. You can access your stored files from any browser. The service is tuned for MAC users, but PC users can also use this service.

• Internet FileZone
  Get 10MB of online storage space to keep all your critical files. You can access your data from any appropriate 4.x browser, and your data is encrypted for added security so that nobody else can get at it. For a fee, you can add virus scanning, up to 1GB of storage and more!

• MyDocsOnline
  20MB of free online storage, compatible with PC and Macintosh. MyDocsOnline makes it easy to track who has downloaded the files you store on the service.

• MyPlay
  This service is more specialized than most, but it offers up to 3GB (yes, gigabytes!) of free storage space for you to keep MP3 files in. You can either upload your favourite songs from your PC to the site, or download songs available off the Net. They also offer a JukeBox feature so that you can listen to your songs online - but you'd better have a fast connection!

• StoragePoint
  20MB of free secure online storage. Data is automatically encrypted and compressed to maximize the storage space. A separate Windows-based application can be downloaded free to offer drag-and-drop copy facilities into and out of a StoragePoint account.

• SwapDrive
  This service offers 25MB of free storage space for you to store your files online, plus a further 5MB of storage space for every friend or colleague you can refer to the service.

• WhaleMail
  Describing itself (accurately) as a "file transfer solution" rather than a "file storage solution", WhaleMail is a great way to mail people really large email attachments - up to 50MB worth of attachments in fact. You then send a message with a link to your stored attachments, and the recipient can quickly pick them up from WhaleMail. Files are stored for 7 days, then deleted. WhaleMail requests that its services are only used for files larger than 3MB.

• X:Drive
  X:Drive offers 25MB of free online storage, together with integration with the Windows explorer to make your X:Drive free space look like just another drive (drag and drop, etc...) You can choose to keep files secure or share them with your friends.

  Offers free URL forwarding to domain.to/sitename. You must place an advertising banner on the front page of your site in return for using this service, or choose from various other advertising options.

  This site offers free URL forwarding to your own subdomain such as http://yourchoice.selecteddomain

• DoingBusiness.as

  This free redirection service appears to be very fast. URLs are of the form doingbusiness.as/sitename. Currently, this service is ad-free. You can also pick up a free email address, and the site offers other free services too.

• DomainRedirect

  This service will let you point an existing domain name at any URL you like (even Geocities, Tripod etc.) You can also register a domain name via this site to use for redirection.

• FindHere

  Free URL forwarding service of the form http://yoursubdomain.findhere.com/ which also gives you free email forwarding

• From.lv

  This free redirection service seems targeted at Latvian sites (although the signup site itself is in English) Participating sites must place special codes on their page to prove that the page is "live"

• HomePad
  Choice of approximately two dozen domain names, including homepad.com, pagehub.com, singlespad.com
  Free URL redirection service that lets you choose the subdomain of the domain name of your choice. For instance, domain.homepad.com. A popup ad window will be displayed as each visitor is redirected. You can pay to remove these ads should you wish to do so. Note that this site seems to be going through some growing pains, since a note that tracking is "temporarily" disabled has been displayed for more than 3 months so far.

• HotRedirect

  This service offers free URL redirection of the form user.domain and also domain/user. It also offers various statistics on usage of a given redirect link.) 

• Http2

  This free service makes use of Netscape Navigator's automatic URL completion facility (it adds the .com to the http2// form of the address above) so if you are using Internet Explorer you will either have to use the second form of the address or download a special plugin. An interesting concept, but very limited by the browser trickery needed to make it work for all your site's visitors.

  Free URL forwarding. For a fee you can remove the banner ads.

• Jumping.to

The site also offers a co-branding service whereby sites with their own domain names can redistribute the URL redirection service under their own domain name (instead of madeinbritain.net) and share 50% of advertising space.

  You get lots of choice with this free redirection service: you can choose from 2 different addressing schemes and 4 different ways of displaying your new URL. You can choose yourname.domain or domain/yourname, and how you want ads to appear on your site.

  This site offers free URL forwarding to your own subdomain such as http://domain.paklinks.com

• Redir.as
  redir.as
  This is a very powerful redirection service - of the form redir.as/domain - with a number of unique features and no banner ads! You have a lot of control over the redirection process, since you can block certain sites or IP addresses from accessing your site. You can also enable password protection for your link if you like. Redir.as will let you specify up to ten different URLs to redirect to, for example if you have several mirrored copies of your site set up. It will automatically choose these URLs in sequence if it cannot access the first server, or for ultimate fun you can set it to pick a redirect randomly! Note that the site also offers the server powering Redir.as for sale as a package that can be added to any site.

• Rename.com
  download.at, stop.at, dine.at, play.at, stop.at, laugh.at and over a dozen other domain names
  Rename.com offers free URL forwarding of the form domain/username. Their service is ad-supported, by a single 230x30 pixel banner. They have a good selection of domain names.

• Revisit.com
  revisit.com/user
  This service offers a free URL redirection service with an easy-to-remember domain name, on a very fast server. A pop-up banner is shown as each redirection occurs. Disclaimer: I own Revisit.com (it runs off the same dedicated server as this site, which is why I know it's so fast!)

• ShortURL
  shorturl.com, vze.com, filetap.com, mirrorz.com, alturl.com, spyw.com, funurl.com, mp3update.com
  This service offers free URL redirection of the form user.domain, and all you have to do in return is place an 88x31 button on your site. The service itself doesn't include advertising, but does include URL cloaking, statistics, support for META tags and more...

• TSX
  subdomain.tsx.org
  TSX (the Technosite Exchange) offers free URL redirection of the form subdomain.tsx.org as well as various options, such as their SiteHide service that conceals the real URL of your website so that only your TSX URL is visible to site visitors. You can choose between banner or popup advertising.

• ULimit
  com.bi, fr.st, ca.tc, unixlover.com and several other domain names
  ULimit offers free URL forwarding of the form www.yourchoice.domain as well as email forwarding and free electronic business cards to notify people of your new web address.

• VDirect
  vdirect.com, vdirect.net, webrally.net, snapto.net, getto.net, emailme.net, netbounce.com, netbounce.net, oneaddress.net
  A new entrant to the URL forwarding market, VDirect offers two types of service: either choose a domain name from the list and get http://username.domain  and http://www.username.domain (along with a username@domain free email address) or else register a domain name with them and get full www.domain.com redirection! (the latter option is also open to you if you already own a domain name). VDirect also offers statistics on the number of people visiting your site through the redirection link. All this is free and ad-supported, though you can choose to remove the ads for an annual fee. Sadly, the range of "standard" domain names is fairly limited.

• Warping.to

  Free URL redirection service in the form http://warping.to/yourname. Note that you have to add an 88x31 pixel banner to your site in order to get this service for free, and that a sponsor's banner will also be added to the foot of your site automatically. To sign up a second site for redirection will cost you $8 a year; you can pay the same amount to remove the advertising from your free service.

  This service offers two types of URL redirection, and no banner ads.
